• Room for Magic at Riverwalk School

  Riverwalk School in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, is a special school catering for around 120 pupils, aged form three to nineteen, with severe, profound and complex learning needs. Staff at the school work hard to enable pupils to communicate clearly and effectively by developing personal and social skills and, at the same time, encouraging them to have fun and develop their imagination. To do this the school provides a series of stimulating environments, including an existing dark room and their new sensory room, designed and installed by SensoryPlus, in which pupils can participate in small groups as well as individually, accessing a wide range of opportunities and sensory experiences in order to aid their development.

Switching Systems

The essence of the Mike Ayres Design Switch Control System is simplicity. Easy to use and simple to understand, with uniform controls throughout the whole range, it is entirely flexible to suit any type of environment or use. Its adaptability means that it is compatible with virtually all control systems and switches.

This reliable system can be used at any level from simple on/off function through to Soundbeam-, computer- or radio-remote controlled systems.

The system is very simple to use with four modes available:

• Timed - instantaneous control of variable timed activity
• Momentary - on as long as the switch is activated
• Latched - alternating on and off switching
• On - permanently on
