For many conditions where people may be at risk of injury from challenging or destructive behaviour, or a tendency to self-harm, a custom built safe space can prove invaluable. Designed as a room within a room and built of industrial strength material, combined with a thick, padded floor, they significantly reduce the danger of harm from hard surfaces such as walls and furniture.

Soundbeam is an innovative and exciting way of making a rewarding sound. The smallest of body movements can elicit a musical response unlocking a world of interaction. Body movements in the beam, which can vary in length from 30cm to 6m or more, are converted in the heart of the Soundbeam into musical notes.
What is Soundbeam 2®?
Soundbeam is a device that uses ultrasonic sensors to detect at a distance of up to six metres and without physical contact, the direction, speed and distance of body movement, translating this into electronic music via connection to an electronic keyboard, sampler or sound module.
The Soundbeam set up can include either 1, 2, 3 and 4 beams each with a range of different sounds, lengths and directions. The sensor beams are mounted on tripods that can be situated virtually anywhere to be accessible and inclusive for all users. Soundbeam narrows the gap between what can be imagined and what can be physically achieved. It can act as a musical motivator enabling individuals to independently realise their full potential.
For those whose movements are slow or slight there is an instantaneous reward and as confidence and abilities increase so does movement and exploration of the surrounding environment. Soundbeam can provide those with limited awareness of cause and effect; those that are not aware of being able to make things happen and those that are passive a glimmer of understanding that they can achieve something with their own physical efforts.
