Disabled Living Foundation hosts 12th Sensory Awareness Day in London

Regular guest speaker Richard Hirstwood once again illuminated proceedings with his ideas, experience and anecdotes from a twenty five year career in the field. His charismatic display perfectly complimented by Chris Barson's fascinating insight into communication with those on the Autistic spectrum and Suzanne Little's frontline experience as a Multi-Sensory practitioner at one of the country's leading Special Schools.

Delegates enjoyed the opportunity to see new product ideas from SensoryPlus and listen to the high calibre panel extole the virtues of a multi- sensory approach.

Salma Khanom, a Pre-School Leader from the King George Hospital commented; "I am glad my colleague recommended it, (I) enjoyed it very much, keep up the good work." The days, which have been running for three years have now attracted over 500 delegates and many of the latest attendees were responding, like Salma, to colleague recommendation.

Being focussed on best practice and sharing knowledge is central to their sucess, David Payne, Sensory Product Manager explains; "One of the reasons delegates enjoy these days so much is the relaxed atmosphere we try to create, although product and sensoryPlus personnel are present, sales is never the message and attendees are assured there will be no pressure for appointments, though a visit is often requested in the feedback forms."

Pam Walsh from the Arbour Vale School reflects the success of this ethos, commenting "The day was very informative, friendly and fun."

Mission accomplished.
