  • Saving Grace with a Safe Room

For many conditions where people may be at risk of injury from challenging or destructive behaviour, or a tendency to self-harm, a custom built safe space can prove invaluable. Designed as a room within a room and built of industrial strength material, combined with a thick, padded floor, they significantly reduce the danger of harm from hard surfaces such as walls and furniture.

Modusense

Making sensory simple to establish, accessible, easy to use and affordable are important factors to SensoryPlus and our customers and to meet this criteria we have developed ModuSense.

ModuSense is a complete modular sensory environment that consists of shaped bench seating, wall panels and stand alone stools that are simple to fit together in a multitude of different ways.

Modular sensory environments were first developed for exhibition purposes in particular Independent Living Scotland in April 2004 but have proved so successful with customers we have produced an easy-fit system for you to configure your own flexible and highly versatile sensory environment.

ModuSense consists of different shaped bench seats that marry with different shaped wall panels.  The wall panels can either include an angled back to make sitting more comfortable, a plain upholstered wall panel or indeed a wall panel that includes a cut out for a sensory panel to be included such as a Mood Light or Fibre Optic effect.  All the wall panels are sensitively shaped whilst the bench seating has been thoughtfully curved to accommodate different users for example the inward curve of the concave seat unit enables wheelchair users to access sensory panels.  In addition the bench seating can accommodate fibre optics that are positioned within the seating so they are easily accessible. The height of the bench seats enables both hoist and wheelchair access; floor matting can be considerately positioned to ensure access as well as safety.

The centre-piece to the ModuSense is the corner unit that can house two 1.5m bubble tubes of your choice that are enhanced by mirrored wall panels. In addition, the ModuSense stool can integrate alongside the bench seating to give a lower seating level ideal for teachers, carers and children alike.

SensoryPlus will help you design and configure your ModuSense environment using any combination of units, sensory equipment and colours.  Why not incorporate projection effects or maybe a mirror ball and pinspot or even a switching system combined with interactive bubble tubes and fibre optics for example.  ModuSense has the flexibility to integrate with your environment and meet your requirements – it is only limited by imagination!
